Taking the central urban area of Guangzhou city as a case study, this article utilizes crowdsourced GPS trajectory data from the “Two Steps” platform and integrates multi-model analysis to examine the impact of built environment factors on walking and cycling activities, constructing an evaluation framework for a walking index and a cycling index weighted by significant variable coefficients. The results show: (1) Walking activities are temporally concentrated in spring and on weekends, and spatially clustered around forest parks, while cycling activities are more evenly distributed, forming clusters along rivers and main roads; (2) The direction and intensity of the impact of built environment factors on the two types of activities vary significantly; (3) High values of the walking index exhibit a dotted, northward-concentrated pattern, whereas high values of the cycling index display a banded, balanced pattern. Based on these findings, the article proposes smart recreational renewal strategies tailored to differentiated needs.
