20世纪60年代以来，西方学术界开始对世界城市进行系统研究，经过几十年的发展和演变，已经形成丰富的世界城市理论。早期的研究主要是根据全球性特征和跨国经济合作状况界定世界城市；1980年代以来开始强调经济全球化背景下城市之间的联系，揭示城市间的竞争与合作中世界城市的主导作用，其中还包括研究世界城市发展中出现的共性和个性问题等理论。 - 关键词：
世界城市；全球城市体系；经济全球化； - Abstract: Since 1960s, there was about tens years that the western theory of world city has developed in western academic circles, and a lot of achievements in the research has been obtained. In early stage, the main work is to define the world city according to the global characteristic and transnational situation in economy. Afterwords the focal pint has diverted to the relation of cities in the condition of economic globalization, the target is to reveal that leading position of the world cities in the competition and cooperation among cities, and to analysis their general and specific questions of the world cities.
