南京城墙是明太祖朱元璋亲自设计的砖石都城墙，全长35.267km。虽经600余年沧桑仍保存2/3的完整墙体。如何更加合理科学有效地保护，并使之成为世界遗产，是当前和今后相当长时间的一道严峻课题。根据最新资料，南京城墙已入选国家文物局“申遗”备选名单，这对于南京这座古老的现代城市既是机遇又是挑战。 - 关键词：
南京城墙；世界文化遗产；现代城市； - Abstract: Walls in Nanjing is masonry walls designed by Zhu Yuanzhang (the founding emperor of Ming dynasty) himself. It is 35.267 km long. Despite 600 years of vicissitudes it still preserves the integrity of two-thirds. To make the protection more scientific and effective, and enable the walls to become world heritage is a quite long and grim task. According to the latest data, Walls in Nanjing has been selected as a candidate for the world heritage by the national cultural relics department, which provide both opportunity and challenge for the Nanjing venerable and modern city.
