避开老城另建新城的发展模式通常被认为能较好达到老城保护的目的，但实际一些城市依然无法摆脱老城活力衰退、形态瓦解的命运。本文通过中国典型古城洛阳老城从清代至今城市功能空间的分布和演化研究，分析城市核心功能的变化对城市空间形态和城市发展活力的影响机制，认为承担合理的城市发展功能对老城的保护是具有积极作用的。 - 关键词：
功能空间；演化；洛阳老城； - Abstract: The mode of city development with a new town constructed in the city periphery is usually believed to be a relatively acceptable way to protect the ancient cities. But under some circumstances, adopting this mode also leads to the deprivation of urban vitality and dynamics, and cause the disintegration of urban form. Through a study on the evolution of function space differentiation in a typical Chinese ancient city, Luoyang (from the period of Qing Dynasty till now), the influence mechanism that the core function of the city drives the change of urban form and urban vitality can be found. There comes an active effect on the protection of the ancient city which undertakes some reasonable function of the city development.
