本文在对20 世纪80 年代以来我国的城镇化历程横向比较和纵向节点分析的基础上，指出空间集聚是城镇化的核心理论；进一步引入集聚指数的概念，该指数不仅可以用来测度城镇化水平，还可以作为衡量小城镇建设是否达到空间聚集的基准。本研究对我国小城镇建设空间集聚的宏观面进行了探讨，并通过重庆市小城镇建设的案例剖析，指出小城镇建设中应该注重集聚效应。最后，对我国未来小城镇建设在城镇化中的作用进行了讨论和展望。 - 关键词：
集聚指数；城镇化政策；小城镇；大城市；重庆市； - Abstract: This paper explores the China’s urbanization history based on horizontal comparison and vertical node analysis since 1980s. It indicates that urbanization policy should be focused on the Spatial Agglomeration Theory. The concept of the Agglomeration Index was further introduced which can not only be used to measure the urbanization level, but also as a measure whether the small towns has reached the benchmark of spatial aggregation. The paper then examined the space agglomeration of small towns from the macro perspective. This is supported with a case study in Chongqing to emphasize that the construction of small towns should be focused on the agglomeration effects. Finally, the role of small town in the future urbanization process was further discussed.
