借用规模由阿隆索于1973年提出，主要指小城市可以通过借用邻近大城市的规模效应获得发展机会。这一概念20多年后才引起学界关注，并于最近几年取得较大进展。从适用对象、作用机制、借用维度三个方面对已有研究进行综述。适用对象由邻近大城市的小城市扩展至所有尺度的城市，无论它们是否相邻；作用机制的主要变化在于从地理邻近到网络通达，借用规模成为一种网络现象；绩效与功能被视为借用规模的两个基本维度。最后对未来的研究进行了展望。 - 关键词：
借用规模；小城市；城市网络；集聚经济； - Abstract: The concept of borrowed size proposed by Alonso in 1973, which mainly refers to the small cities that obtain the development opportunities by borrowing size effect from their neighboring bigger cities. However, this concept aroused the attention in the academic field more than 20 years later, and great research progress was made in recent years. In this review, the existing research were summarized from three fields, including applicable objects, mechanism, and dimensions. Firstly, applicable objects are extended from small cities neighboring bigger cities to cities of all scales, regardless of whether they are adjacent or not. Secondly, the main change of the mechanism of borrowing is from geographical proximity to network accessibility. In modern network society, borrowing size also becomes a kind of network phenomenon. Thirdly, performance and function are regarded as two fundamental dimensions of borrowed size. In the final, the future research was prospected.
