大城市的快速发展伴随着乡镇聚落的逐渐衰落，这被视为我国城镇化发展的常态，中小城镇与乡村一直被看作是经济与人口流出的劣势空间。但近年来，由于互联网的发展与快速交通基础设施网络的完善，也有不少乡镇在网络社会中找了到新的发展契机，通过主动适应新趋势实现了经济复苏和人口回流。研究以“中国文印小镇”湖南省新化县洋溪镇为例，调查其在地方空间和流动空间交织影响下的产业、人口及活力演变，总结并讨论当地活力提升的驱动机制。最终，文章结合案例研究更为具体地探讨了地方空间与流动空间的互动关系，并证明：在“避免与流动空间断裂和脱钩”的前提下，地方空间层面“形成有效的地方政策和空间响应”和“挖掘深层次的地方网络和社会需求”对乡镇活力提升至关重要。 - 关键词：
网络社会；流动空间；地方空间；活力提升；人口流动；收缩城市； - Abstract: The shrinking of many small and medium-sized cities and towns has been observed in the rapidly urbanizing China, where resources and population are being extracted from the remote regions. However, ICT and new transportation infrastructures, such as highway and high-speed railway, have provided those disadvantaged locations with opportunities for regrowth. If reacting properly, those towns and cities could find proximity in the “networked society” and facilitate a backflowing of investments and population. This paper presents an empirical study on the development and redevelopment of Yangxi in Xinhua, Hunan, thes o-called “ Printing Town”. Our analysis begins with ahistorical review of its developing trajectory, from an anonymous place to a well-known cluster of industries related to printing. Taking industrial development, demography, and land use as three indexes, this paper reveals the driving forces and mechanism of Yangxi’s change of local vitality under the infl uences of space of fl ows and space of places in the past six decades. It is then concluded that small and medium-sized cities should avoid breaking away or decoupling from the space of fl ows, meanwhile developing adequate local responses and spatial policies rooted in the local community, i.e. to utilize the space of places, in order to regain vitality in the disadvantage locations.
